You can do that by going to Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center, Advanced sharing settings and then expanding All Networks. However, if you feel your home network is super secure, you can always turn off password protected sharing, which means anyone can connect to the shared folder without having to type in a username or password. You’ll first have to add a password and then you could connect.
If you setup a Windows 10 user account without adding a password, you won’t be able to connect to the shared folder. By default, when connecting from another machine, you have to enter the username and password of an account that has access to that shared folder on Windows 10. Lastly, you can decide how you want users to access the folder on Windows 10. You may have to first click on the Change settings button at the top before you can select a box. Scroll down until you see File and Printer Sharing and make sure that it is checked for the Private network. Then click on Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall. Go to Control Panel and click on Windows Defender Firewall. The next thing you need to do is make sure that File and Printer Sharing is turned on and allowed through the Windows Firewall in Windows 10. This way, you’ll be able to access the folder from any computer or device without having to worry about entering credentials.
If you want to make it easy and the folder doesn’t have sensitive data, just add the Everyone group and give them Full Control. Click on Permissions and then add groups or users that you want to give access. Check the Share this folder box and then give the share a name. Other than letting someone else do the work, Migration Assistant (in either form) is the easiest way to move data from a PC to a Mac.I suggest clicking on Advanced Sharing as you have more fine-grain control over everything. If you decide to skip the data-transfer step, you can accomplish the same thing later by opening Migration Assistant, a utility found in your Mac’s /Applications/Utilities folder. As part of this process, this app asks if you want to transfer data from another Mac or PC. When you turn on a new Mac for the first time, a setup assistant runs to help you connect to the Internet, create a user account, and configure a number of important settings. You can also make appointments for ongoing classes and training, all of which can ease the transition to a new platform. The nice thing about One to One is that you not only get your files and data on a Mac, you have the benefit of immediate, on-the-spot professional help. When you enroll for Apple’s One to One service, you can keep track of your training sessions and topics you want to learn about on a custom Web page.
Take your old PC to your nearest Apple Store, and someone will transfer your data, install any Apple software you’ve purchased, and help you with any initial setup or usage questions. In addition to a full year of training on Apple products, this program includes a one-time data-transfer service. When you buy a new Mac directly from Apple (either at an Apple retail store or online), you can optionally pay an extra $99 for Apple’s One to One service. If your PC stores most of your data locally, you can choose among three main approaches to get it onto your Mac: Take the easy way out
